My my my! Who is this?
Why it’s Fantastic Mr Fox himself. But quiet now, old Mr Fox looks like he’s up to something. He’s obviously busy preparing for Novus Theatre’s upcoming production and we don’t want him to get caught ;)

Its the neeeww Clanger! Loved laying this one out, Issue 3 and it’s the best yet we think. If you’re from Bedford town you’ll be seeing these popping up sometime next week. Get one while you can!
(and yes that is my bedford revolution postcard in the top right corner there, some shameless promotion on my part :p sorry/not sorry)

The sun is out properly for the first time today (i.e. I haven’t had to turn the heating up!) and it put me in a springtime mood…

#sketchdump #poetry #my art #Circus of Illustration #drink and draw #bedford #bedfordshireillustrators #ouse muse
Last Wednesday the Circus of Illustration held their Drink & Draw in collaboration with local poetry group Ouse Muse. The idea of the evening is that the poets perform, as usual, a variety of original and classic work and the illustrators try and draw as much as they can inspired by what they hear. This is the second time we’ve brought the groups together and, as before, it was an inspiring and thoroughly enjoyable evening.
These are the drawings I managed to scribble down on the night. They’re by no means fully formed (or even good!) but it is a fantastic exercise in drawing on the fly :p

Little collage I did of a original character as an example for some students when I taught at First University this summer. She actually turned our pretty awesome so thought I’d share. :)

#my art #painting #mural #community art #art in schools
Back in June I painted a mural with the students of Cranfield Church of England Academy, a lower school close to my home in Bedfordshire.
The idea was to brighten up a particularly dull corner of the playground with an exciting painting that everyone in the school had a hand in making. Many pupils entered a competition to submit a design for the mural. Together with the mastermind of the project Mrs Mitford, we selected a design by Millie in Early Years . The winning entry can be seen above. I developed the design futher and we set to work. Over two days, every child in the school donned aprons and brushes to have a go at painting a bit of the wall.
I think we can all agree the results were pretty fantastic and really brightens up the playground. As a bonus it was a wonderful way to get young people excited about making art and working together to make something that will last (hopefully!) for many years to come. Fingers crossed I’ll get the chance to do something similar again sometime.
Many more pictures of the painting in process can be seen on the school’s website here.
