So I finally got around to rendering the pin-up girl sketch I did a few weeks ago. I kind of love her. I may need to do a whole series….

The first monkey in space!
I did this ages ago for a Circus of Illustration exhibition but obviously forgot to post it. oops!
It was my friends birthday the other week and her favourite Disney film is Up, so I decided to make her her very own personalised Wilderness Explorer Handbook. :)
It was a mixture of things she’s already done and some brand new challenges that she can check off when she’s earned them. Thankfully she loved it but either way designing the badges and the tasks was a lot of fun for me too!!
Something I did for fun the other day :)
We released our first zine this week featuring illustrations from 13 Bedfordshire illustrators working with the theme ‘In the Woods.’ Each illustrator chose a piece of text, be it a song, poem, comic or excerpt from a book and illustrated it in their own varied styles.
You can view the zine here and download it for yourself. There will be printed copies available at out next Drink & Draw, 18.04.13, details can be found on the blog.
The Circus of Illustration’s very first Zine! I am proud to say my work is featured here alongside some very talented illustrators and artists who I am very lucky to know. I shall post my illustration forthwith but you should all download it an take a look yourselves.
At Wednesday’s Easter themed Drink & Draw we were making seasonal flip books and turned them into little GIF’s. Here’s my cute little bunny pulling up a carrot :)
You can check out the rest of them on the Circus page here
Enjoy and Happy Easter everyone!
DRINK & DRAW
Howdy Campers, it’s time for another fabulous Drink and Draw. This months theme, Jurassic Lark!
We’ll be doodling dinosaurs on dinosaurs and discussing some exciting opportunities for Bed Pop in July. Join us to find out more.
Tuesday the 28th May, 7.00pm at the Three Cups in Bedford.
Wahey, here’s the latest poster for the Circus of Illustrations monthly Drink and Draw, illustration and design by yours truly. Can’t wait for this one. Should be awesome.
“Hold up, hold up,” I hear you cry. “This piece looks awfully familiar!” And you would be correct. It is essentially my Finn and Jake Adventure Time fanart with Finn and Jake replaced by a little boy and his pet dinosaur. I liked the image but I didn’t think I should put fanart in my portfolio so I played around with it a bit.
I rather like the concept though. I’ve always wanted a dinosaur as a pet. These two could certainly go on an adventure or two…
So sometimes I do a bit of Graphic Design.
Here’s the work I did last week on Creative Bedford’s new look. The networking meetings are launching a new format next week and it was felt that the brand needed re-invigorating too. The idea is to have a new and vibrant design for each of the next years meetings. This is 1 of 6 so keep your eyes peeled for the next 5!!
And here is it! My Illustration for the Circus’ ‘In The Woods’ themed zine. I decided that I wanted to write my own piece of text to illustrate putting my own twist on a well known Fairy Tale. It read’s as follows:
We all know the story of Little Miss Hood,
But what happened after’s oft’ misunderstood.
Our Rusty’s developed a strange taste for blood,
And hunts wolves full time with her lumberjack stud.
Remember to download the zine here to see the rest of the illustrations.
It’s Sunday afternoon and I’m doodling…
I keep thinking I’d love to do a kind of 1940’s pin-up thing. I guess this is where my heads at.
Roll up Roll up!! The Circus if Illustration’s next Drink and Draw is here and I got to design the promotional image :)
I can’t wait. We’re going to be making flip books and there will be an extra special easter egg doodle dip. I have no idea what that means (it is top secret) but i’m excited to find out!
If you’re from the Bedfordshire area feel free to join us :)
